Say for example that you are just new in the world of art or perhaps, you are in the market seeking to buy your first artwork, it can be difficult to navigate through the jargons in the industry. Good news and bad news. Bad news first, you will not learn everything in this one post but the good news, you can start small.

And let’s get it started with the different kinds of paints used when painting, how they are different from each and why they might influence your choice.

Number 1. Oil Paint

Oil paint is among the frequently used kinds of paint. The name says it all. This paint has color pigments that are embedded in oil.

With the topic of artwork preservation, oil paintings are notorious to changing of colors overtime because of the influence of light.

Now in the case of oil paintings, when they’re not exposed to light for extended period of time like weeks or months, the oil might begin to darken but exposing it to light once again will revert the process.

Number 2. Acrylic Paint

This is one of the cost effective and commonly used paints by several artists. It attaches to bases like metal, canvas and wood and compared to oil paints, acrylic paint is able to dry faster. Substance embedded to the color pigment is water-based acryl emulsion.

In addition to being displayed in art galleries, ceramic artwork can equally be found within the very walking surfaces people tread on daily. These include the mosaic artworks of civic buildings and the decorative tiles found on pavements. They continue to enrich the city of Brisbane culturally and aesthetically. Tile artworks are forgotten, and their […]
  • How Korean Address Collections Influence Modern Urban Art Movements
Urban art is influenced by the surroundings in which it is created. Some South Korean artists have recently taken inspiration from an unexpected place: address collection (Korean: 주소모음). Initially, these compilations served the purpose of aiding users to navigate within complex, ever-evolving web domains. However, these compilations have now morphed into cultural artifacts that capture […]
